Why Leicester families start with a free lesson
In Leicester many adults grew up going to maktab, stopped in their early teens, and have recited the same handful of surahs ever since with the same uncorrected habits. Going back to a class as an adult means reading aloud in front of people you may well know, which is why plenty of people never do it. A private half hour is a way around that.
The trial is one teacher and you, thirty minutes. You read; the teacher listens and then explains what is actually happening — normally two or three specific letters and a rule or two rather than the whole recitation. Nothing is recorded and nobody else is on the call.
Adults in Highfields, Belgrave and Evington mostly study before work or once the house is quiet. Because the slot is private, it can sit anywhere in the day, which is the main reason adult study survives past the first fortnight.
There is nowhere in Leicester to attend. The lesson is a private video class, so shift patterns and dark evenings change nothing about turning up.
What makes the class different
- Adult-appropriate, judgement-free teachingNo children's workbooks and no group recitation. Your teacher starts from an honest assessment of your reading and builds from there at an adult pace.
- Truly one-to-oneOne teacher, one student, the whole lesson. Mistakes are corrected as they happen instead of going unnoticed in a group of twenty.
- No payment details for the trialThe trial class is free and requires no card, no deposit and no subscription. If you do not continue, nothing happens.
- A slot you choosePick the day and time that fits your week. If something clashes later, we move the lesson instead of writing it off.
Class times in UK time (GMT/BST)
Lessons are booked in UK time. Leicester adults most often take 6am to 8am before work or 9pm to 10:30pm afterwards, twice a week to start, with the same teacher keeping your slot and your record. See monthly plans for what happens after the trial.

What Leicester Families Say
Feedback from students and parents about one-to-one lessons with our teachers.
“We started with the Arabic letters and sounds, and my daughter was reading short words confidently within a few months of one-to-one classes.”
Hafsa B.Leicester · Noorani Qaida “My teacher corrects me while I recite, rule by rule, so pronunciation habits get fixed straight away instead of sticking around for years.”
Ibrahim B.Leicester · Tajweed “Keeping the same weekly slot and the same teacher has made memorisation manageable, and revision in every lesson means earlier surahs stay strong.”

Questions before you book
- I went to maktab as a child but never learned Tajweed properly. Normal?
- Extremely. Most adult learners here read reasonably well and were never taught the rules underneath. The teacher corrects the sound first and names the rule afterwards.
- Could someone I know end up in my class?
- No. Lessons are one-to-one with your teacher only, so there is no group and nothing shared.
- How often should I study to actually improve?
- Twice a week is the usual recommendation for adults. Weekly works if it is consistent; less than that tends to stall.
- How do I book?
- Send us your details through the form on this page or message us on WhatsApp. We reply with two or three available slots and confirm one with you.
- What time zone are Leicester lessons scheduled in?
- UK time (GMT/BST). You give us the times that work on your own clock and we match a teacher to them, including any daylight-saving changes.
- What do we need for the class?
- A phone, tablet or laptop, a reasonable internet connection and a copy of the Quran or Qaida. Nothing else needs to be bought or installed beyond a video app.
