Why Los Angeles families start with a free lesson
Los Angeles turns a short lesson into a long outing. Between Anaheim, Culver City and the Valley, a half-hour class can cost a family two hours of driving on either side of it, and that is before a 5pm freeway is factored in. The free trial is a no-cost way to see whether a private lesson at your own kitchen table teaches your child better than a commute plus a crowded room.
The trial is one teacher and one child for about thirty minutes. Your child reads aloud, the teacher corrects instantly, and by the end you have an honest assessment of level rather than a sales pitch. If your child is younger and still on letters, the lesson stays on letters; if they read quickly but drop harakat, the lesson slows them down deliberately.
LA's Muslim families come from Iranian, Arab, South Asian, Indonesian and African American backgrounds, and the lesson does not assume any of them. Explanation is in English; Arabic pronunciation is modelled sound by sound and then practised.

Lessons are booked in Pacific Time and stay on your own LA clock year-round. The most requested children's window is 4pm to 8pm PT on weekdays; because our teachers cover a wide spread of hours, early-morning PT slots before school are also genuinely available, which suits families who would rather not fight the evening. Questions before you book
- Is an early-morning slot really possible before school?
- Yes, and in LA it is one of the most reliable options — a 7am PT lesson is a comfortable evening for the teacher and avoids the evening scramble entirely.
- My child mixes up similar Arabic letters. Is that normal?
- Very. Distinguishing sounds like ص and س or ق and ك is a matter of hearing them modelled repeatedly and being corrected each time, which is exactly what a one-to-one lesson gives and a group class cannot.
- Do we need to buy anything to start?
- No. A device with a camera and a Qaida or Quran is enough for the trial, and the teacher will tell you afterwards if a specific book would help.
- How do I book?
