Online Quran Classes in Illinois

Illinois families — most concentrated around Chicago and its suburbs, with communities in Rockford, Peoria and the Champaign area too — often already attend a weekend program and want something in between: regular, individual attention on recitation during the week. That is precisely what a short private online lesson does well.

Classes are booked in Central Time. Through the Illinois winter, an evening slot at home is far more reliable than a drive to a masjid class, and nothing is cancelled for snow. Weekday windows from about 4pm to 8:30pm CT are the most used for children, with weekend mornings open for longer sessions.

Each lesson is one student and one teacher, taught in English, with Arabic pronunciation corrected in the moment rather than left to a group recitation. Parents receive notes on what was covered and where their child needs repetition, which is usually the part a weekend program cannot provide.

We have no premises in Illinois and no teachers living there — all teaching is over video call, which is why a family in a smaller downstate town gets the same programme as one in the suburbs of Chicago.

Illinois families most often choose 4pm-8:30pm CT on weekdays, with Saturday and Sunday mornings available for Hifz and longer Tajweed work. All Illinois lessons are booked in Central Time (CT). See monthly plans or read about online Quran classes in the USA.

Illinois families — Frequently Asked Questions

Can lessons run alongside a weekend madrasah?
Yes, and many Illinois families do exactly that — two short weekday lessons for individual recitation practice alongside the community program.
Do classes continue through winter weather?
Yes. Nothing depends on travel, so lessons run as normal in any weather as long as you have an internet connection.
What do we need to join a class?
A phone, tablet or laptop, headphones if the house is busy, and a copy of the Qaida or Quran. Lessons run on Zoom, Google Meet or WhatsApp video.

We have no campus, office or resident teachers in Illinois; every lesson takes place one-on-one over video call.
