Start with the trial lesson, not the brochure
A free trial is the only reliable way to judge a teacher. Sit in for the first lesson and watch how the teacher corrects a mistake — patiently and specifically, or by simply repeating themselves louder.
The nine questions
- What Quran and Tajweed training has the teacher completed?
- How many years have they taught children of my child's age?
- Which curriculum do they follow — Noorani Qaida, Nazra, Tajweed rules, Hifz?
- How do they correct pronunciation without discouraging a young student?
- How long is each class, and how many per week do they recommend for us?
- Which time zone slots can they actually commit to every week?
- How will they report progress to parents?
- Can a parent observe any lesson at any time?
- What happens if we need to reschedule or pause classes?
Red flags
- Group classes presented as one-on-one lessons
- No trial lesson, or pressure to pay before you have met the teacher
- Vague answers about who exactly will teach your child
- No option for parents to observe the class
